Our latest touch integration is the Showcase projected capacitive touch (PCT) technology enables the touch panel to be sensed through a protective layer in front of
the touch sensor, effectively allowing the touch panel PC to be installed behind store window or vandal-resistant glass.
This unique indirect touch installation allows the PCT to have unsurpassed resistance to impacts, scratches and vandalism commonly found in public-access application and is very suitable for information kiosks, ticketing machines, pay-at-the pump gas station and those through-glass/under-counter/bar-top applications.
The projected capacitive touch
The projected capacitive touch sensor consists of a high resolution XY grid made up of ultra-thin copper capacitor elements, applying voltage to the grid creates an array of capacitance. Bring a finger or conductive stylus close to the surface of the sensor, such as within 20 mm distance, will induce minute changes in frequency within the capacitance matrix thus to detect and pinpoint the touch position.
Because the sensing element is embedded in a tough laminate substrate and is not exposed to any external elements, the PCT can be unaffected by moisture, heat, rain, snow and ice, or harsh cleaning fluids, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
This unique PCT sensing elements & structure provide increased level of reliability and longer life expectancy, resulting a drift-free response and a low-maintenance unit that requires no re-calibration.

The true flat front surface
There are various ways for touch integration, most common one is to fix the touch sensor between the front bezel and the LCD panel. This is simple but leaves some gap & drop between the bezel and the touch sensor. For PCT integration, Wincomm’s effort is more creative to deliver a no-bezel true flat front surface.
Wincomm tailors the size of the PCT sensor to be same as WLP-7821 open frame outer dimension and adhere it on top of the whole front bezel. The PCT active area is same as the LCD panel viewing area, the PCT surrounding non-active boarder area is silk printed w/ black paint to cover the adhesive tape and the front bezel. The controller flexible cable is also hided behind the black boarder.
Such integration makes PCT sensor itself becomes the only front layer of the panel PC and creates a true flat front surface stylish looking. As there are not any extra bezel and associated gap & drop, this is best for water & dust proof and easy for cleaning and maintenance.
The WLP-7821 series
The WLP-7821 series are equipped with 17” and 19” 1280x1024 SXGA 300 nits LCD panel and is powered by Intel 2.0 GHz processor with 667 MHz FSB and 2 GB dual-channel maximum system memory.
The 40° C ambient fanless operation is backed up by the special aluminum heat sink rear cover plate for best heat dissipation and is further secured by the temperature monitoring & CPU under-clocking .
The HDD anti-vibration mechanism, watchdog time application program and the support of Wincomm Remote Device Management (WRDM) software enhance the reliable usage.
